Black-throated Diver (Gavia Arctica) These streamlined diving birds sit low in the water and dive with consummate ease. Like all divers, it is a specialist fish-eater, catching its prey underwater, although it also feeds on insects, crustaceans and amphibians. It is a passing migrant to Arran, which is a site of national importance for the bird in autumn. Have been seen in Whiting Bay, Machrie Bay and Drumadoon.
